Why Get Help?
Selecting a new site for expansion or moving a facility are relatively infrequent events that require expertise not normally found among internal staffs. In fact, such projects can seriously distract executives and managers from normal business operations.
Because you've got a company to run, you can free up your time by relying on experts to help in ways that are tailored to meet your requirements.
The first step is understanding the decision to expand, consolidate, or relocate operations. In complete confidence we will discuss business priorities and unique circumstances to determine the financial, logistical and human factors appropriate to potential locations.
After we get parameters from you, we know what to look for. On an unbiased basis, we perform site selection by sorting through an array of data to interpret proximity to markets, workforce factors, educational and training resources, taxes, political climate, transportation options, site availability, utility costs, economic incentives and financing options. We also evaluate quality-of-life and cost-of-living factors to find locations that attract qualified employees and enhance staff retention. We recommend that negotiations conducted for you be done on an anonymous basis, although some companies want it to be known that they are interested in new locations.
Working with Joe Generally Involves Three Phases
Stage One – Executive Coaching: Here, Joe works with you to clarify strategy by listening to your business and personal concerns and offering options for consideration. These conversations vary considerably depending upon the personal hopes and worries of the participants, the stability of the business, a general idea of the future facility (space requirements, etc.) and future goals. In many cases, a "broad-brush" list of candidate communities emerges from these discussions.
Stage Two – Site Selection & Incentives Consulting: Specialists with many years of experience in site selection who also have contacts with economic development agencies throughout the U.S. will bring the project to the next level of specificity. They will "benchmark" your company in a way preferred by economic development agencies and circulate a request for an offer letter from such agencies. Negotiators working to enhance the offering all have experience on "the other side of the table" and generally know what states, counties and municipalities can offer.
Stage Three – The Actual Transition: The final phase can be as frustrating as it is exciting. What deserves to be evaluated and possibly altered are company policies on relocation if key personnel are to be induced to move to a new community, on furloughs if a consolidation is underway, on retention bonuses to keep key personnel in a soon-to-be-closed facility until the new facility is operating, and on compensation for employee familiarization trips and moving expenses.
Whether you are a small business, a mid-sized company, or a large corporation, services will be customized to meet your requirements. For a free initial consultation, contact Joe Vranich by email or by calling 949-551-3150. (Many callers are unable to speak freely during normal business hours and for that reason Joe is accustomed to evening and weekend calls.) You are guaranteed Instant Confidentiality.
